The Safe Center provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence, rape/sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking. Built on four decades of leadership in the community in responding to victims’ needs, The Safe Center's repertoire of services and expertise in working with child and adult victims of abuse is breaking new ground in victim’s services. Our Rape/Sexual Assault Department provides trauma-focused mental health services to adult victims regardless of gender ages 18 and over (and their non-offending family members) who have been impacted by rape and sexual abuse.

This is a full-time position Monday-Friday with some evenings. Weekly supervision is provided by an LCSW-R. Includes medical/dental benefits and generous paid time off policy.

Responsibilities of the Bilingual Rape and Sexual Assault Counselor include:

  • Phone outreach & screening for services
  • Intake and assessment
  • Crisis intervention & suicide risk assessment
  • Individual & group therapy
  • Support group facilitation (ideally two groups)
  • Information, advocacy, and referral
  • Collaboration with Child Advocacy Center multi-disciplinary team members and other professionals (attendance at meetings) and Collaboration with Rape/Sexual Assault multi-disciplinary team members and other professionals
  • Interpretation & translation of documents
  • Data entry in agency’s database empowerDB

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or equivalent
  • NY State licensure or eligible for limited permit
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a MUST
  • Clinical experience working with adult survivors of sexually abuse strongly preferred.
  • Training in trauma treatment modalities strongly preferred.
  • Commitment to a strengths-based approach

Salary:

$50,000 annually 

$55,000 annually Bilingual Spanish
