Group Coordinator/Child Counselor-Bilingual
AGENCY OVERVIEW: The Safe Center LI, Inc. (TSCLI) is the leading provider of services to victims of interpersonal violence in Nassau County. The agency provides comprehensive services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, human trafficking, and elder abuse. The Safe Center is a thought leader that seeks to develop and implement innovative interventions to meet the multifaceted needs of victims and survivors.
SUMMARY: The Coordinator/Child Counselor works within the Children’s Mental Health Department. They are responsible for the overall management of Project Kidz Talk©, a group work program for children who have been sexually abused and their non-offending family members, as well as providing clinical services for children and families impacted by family violence, sexual assault, and commercial sexual assault/trafficking.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruitment of group members both internally and externally
- Outreach and networking with local service providers
- Referral coordination and case monitoring
- Support group facilitation
- Mental health services including crisis intervention, assessment, and therapy
- Data collection and summary for grant reports
- Training of staff and interns
- Supervision of interns
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s level mental health professional with NY State licensure (i.e., LCSW, LMSW, LCAT, LMFT, LMHC) or eligible for limited permit
- Group work knowledge & expertise
- Experience facilitating children’s support groups
- Experience working with victims of abuse/trauma
- Commitment to a strengths-based approach
- Excellent clinical judgment & crisis intervention skills
- Strong organizational, networking, & communication skills
- Experience with program development/management a plus
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
HOURS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- Full-Time, 35 hours per week (Evenings are required Monday-Thursday)

- Annual Salary: $54,000, $57,000 for bilingual
